Differences between a gas grill and a charcoal grill

What’s better charcoal or gas
to grill?

Food has a better flavor when charcoal is used given the smoked flavor achieved with charcoal is more intense. This happens as the juices of the food fall on the burning coals and evaporates steaming the food.

Lighting the coals takes time, between 10 and 20 minutes from the moment you light it until you begin to cook (depending on the intensity of the fire you want). If you prefer a faster grilling time, then a gas grill is your best option.

Characteristics of Gas Grills

  • Little o no smoked flavor, unless your grill has an additional smoker
  • More expensive

Characteristics of Charcoal Grills

  • Smoked flavor
  • Higher temperatures than a gas grill
  • Less expensive
  • Works better with meats
